Warrior Collective Award – Best Young Martial Artist of the Year

It is my utmost pleasure to announce the start today of this years Warrior Collective Award for the Best Young Martial Artist of the Year sponsored by Made4Fighters

About the Warrior Collective Award

I set up this award to help recognise and celebrate the phenomenal young Martial Arts talent we have within the UK and Ireland.  This is the second year of its running and is once again wholly sponsored and supported by the fantastic people over at Made4Fighters.  It is not restricted to any one particular Martial Arts discipline or association, the award is open to all young athletes aged under 18 years old living and residing within the UK or Ireland.

Last years winner was the outstanding Muay Thai super talent Joe Ryan.

The Award Process

A panel of different leading Martial Arts figures, coaches and fighters will decide the initial shortlisted group of 10 athletes garnered from all the nominations received during the opening stage.  Each of these young Martial Artists will receive a £250 voucher from Made4Fighters to spend on whatever equipment, clothing and merchandise they want from their site.  They will also receive an exclusive Nominee’s banner and t-shirt.

I will then go on to film a short mini documentary video with each young athlete in order to showcase their journey, ambitions and extraordinary talent to a global audience.  Below are examples of these from two of last years finalists, the brilliant young boxer Tiah Ayton and the fantastic BJJ exponent Libby Genge.

Once all of these videos are made, a second panel will then watch each in turn and read through the nomination form information before deciding on an overall winner.  The winner will go on to receive a £500 voucher from Made4fighters, a £500 bursary from Warrior Collective (to spend on training, comp fees or travel expenses) and an exclusive winners pack (award and banner), alongside the prestigious accolade of the award itself.

Best Young Martial Artist Nominations

Nominations for the initial stage can be made by coaches, parents or the young athlete themselves.  To do so you just need to download this Nomination form, fill out all the necessary information and return via e-mail to stuart@warriorcollective.co.uk with a couple of relevant images of the nominee.  I would advise that you include as much information as possible to ensure you have optimum chance of success getting through to the group stage.

Nominations will only be accepted between Friday 19th April and Sunday May 26th 2019

All shortlisted young athletes must be available and willing to travel to the Warrior Collective gym in East Manchester for the filming at some point between 10th June and 15th September 2019.  These filming sessions will take approx 2 – 3 hours.  It is advisable for each shortlisted nominee to bring with them their coach, a parent or guardian and a training partner in order to be able to make the best video possible.
