  • Damon Sansum began practicing Wado Ryu Karate in 1999, winning numerous titles in sport Karate, including WAKO World Cup Champion and WAKO Jnr European Champion. At 24, he switched to Olympic Taekwondo and became one of GB Taekwondo's most successful male athletes, earning world medals, European silver, and the Commonwealth title. Despite qualifying for the 2016 Rio Olympics, he served as Team GB's reserve. Since retiring in 2019, Damon has coached seminars, training camps, and offered online mentoring.

    Damon Sansum began his martial arts journey in 1999 in the style of Wado Ryu Karate, taught by his father Lee Sansum, highly regarded martial artist and close protection specialist.

    He competed in sport Karate for 13 years at the highest level, achieving many titles including WAKO World Cup Champion, WAKO team world champion, WOMMA World Champion and WAKO Jnr European Champion.

    After a highly decorated career in sport karate, at age 24, Damon decided to switch combat styles and was invited to join the Team GB Olympic Taekwondo squad. Within his 10year career as a TKD athlete, Damon became one of the most successful males in GB Taekwondo history. Winning consecutive World medals, European silver medal, World Grand Prix silver medal, the Commonwealth title and gold medals at most of the A-class international Olympic Taekwondo championships.

    Sansum also qualified for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games but narrowly missed out on selection and went to Brazil as Team GB’s reserve athlete. In 2019 Damon retired from Team GB, since then he has travelled the world coaching seminars, training camps and online mentoring and coaching.
